Lip Filler:

- Procedure: Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers are injected into the lips. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body that helps to add volume and hydration.

- Purpose: The primary goal is to add volume to the lips, making them fuller and plumper. It can also help in reshaping and contouring the lips for a more defined look.

- Results: The results are immediately visible and can last anywhere from 6 months to over a year, depending on the type of filler used and the individual's metabolism.

Lip Flip:

- Procedure: A lip flip involves the injection of a small amount of a neurotoxin, such as Botox or Dysport, into the muscles around the upper lip.

- Purpose: The neurotoxin temporarily relaxes the muscles around the mouth, causing the upper lip to "flip" outward and upward, giving the illusion of a fuller upper lip. It does not add volume but can make the lips appear more prominent.

- Results: The full effect is usually visible within a week or two and lasts for 6 weeks+ The duration is shorter than that of lip fillers.

Mariah Cunniff, NP shares: "I often choose a lip flip for clients that aren’t quite ready for filler yet. Lip flips provide the illusion of volume by relaxing the muscle around the lips and allowing the pink of the lip to show a little bit more. They last only about six weeks because we use that muscle so often so it’s a nice way to test out if they think they would like lip filler. Lip filler is a better long-term solution. If you’re wanting volume added to the lips it’s also a nice way to support the lip and surrounding tissues to reduce fine lines."
